I just listened to an episode of You Made it Weird where host, Pete Holmes commented on the anxiety he was feeling surrounding TBS picking up his show, The Pete Holmes Show, for another season. Unfortunately, TBS extinguished that anxiety with an announcement two days ago that they would not be adding anymore episodes.

TBS launched the show in 2013, and renewed the four-night-a-week series for a second season of 13 weeks in January.

The midnight comedy sketch show will go off the air following its June 19 finale sadly. And many are citing its failure to compete against fellow Nerdist industries vehicle, @midnight with Chris Hardwick on Comedy Central.

According to specious ratings data, The Pete Holmes Show was consistently beaten by shows like @midnight and other, not-dissimilar, late-night programming meant to grab the ever-fragmenting after-10 TV demo. TBS’s decision is most certainly a financial one, but that doesn’t make them pulling the plug suck any less.

Holmes, as is his way, delivered a wordy but thoughtful response to the news on his Facebook Page:

Here’s a little slice of what we’ll be missing:

Bon jour, PHS. We’ll miss you.
